Why Diagnosis Matters

Life before and after diagnosis

A formal ADHD diagnosis is not just a label. It is the starting point for understanding yourself and accessing the support you are entitled to.

Without a diagnosis

  • Struggling to understand why everything feels harder than it should
  • Dismissed by GPs or told it is 'just stress'
  • Waiting years on an NHS list with no end in sight
  • Feeling like you are failing at work, relationships, or daily tasks
  • No access to medication or structured treatment
  • Carrying shame about being disorganised or forgetful

After your assessment

  • A clear diagnosis with clinical evidence and a written report
  • Understanding why your brain works the way it does
  • A treatment plan tailored to your specific needs
  • Access to medication and shared care with your NHS GP
  • Legal protection and workplace adjustments under the Equality Act
  • The foundation to build strategies that actually work for you

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about our private adult ADHD assessment service.

Our adult ADHD assessments typically take 90–120 minutes. This includes a comprehensive clinical interview, review of your completed pre-assessment questionnaires, and a discussion of the outcome and next steps.

No. You can self-refer directly. You do not need a GP referral to book a private ADHD assessment with us. However, we do recommend informing your GP that you are seeking a private assessment.

Our assessments are conducted by registered clinicians and follow NICE-aligned diagnostic guidelines. Our written reports are accepted by NHS GPs and can be used to support shared care arrangements.

If ADHD is diagnosed, your clinician will discuss treatment options with you. These may include medication, where clinically appropriate, as well as non-pharmacological strategies and support. A written report and outcome letter will be provided.

The NHS Right to Choose pathway allows eligible patients in England to request a referral to an independent provider for assessment. If you believe you may be eligible, speak to your GP about requesting a referral. We recommend checking current NHS Right to Choose availability with your GP, as eligibility and funding arrangements can vary.

We aim to provide your written clinical report within 5 working days of your assessment. In most cases it is delivered sooner. A summary outcome letter is typically sent to your GP within 2 working days.

Our assessments are conducted remotely via a secure video consultation platform. This means you can attend from anywhere in England without needing to travel.
